Privacy Policy
Last updated 12 October 2026
Paxis helps people understand medical evidence about cancer. Using it means telling us things about your health, so we want to be plain about what happens to that information.
The short version. What you type is stored so you can come back to it. We do not sell it, we do not advertise against it, and we do not share it with anyone except the doctor you choose to connect to. You can delete all of it at any time.
Who we are
Paxis is operated by the company behind patientaxis.net. You can reach us at support@patientaxis.net about anything in this policy.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Your name, email address and password when you create an account. Passwords are stored hashed and we cannot read them.
- Everything you type into Paxis. That includes questions about your diagnosis, reports you paste in, medications you look up, symptoms you record, and questions you send to your care team. This is health information about you.
- An invite code, if your doctor gave you one.
Information from your clinician
If you connect to a doctor who uses Paxis, we use the clinical record they hold about you to make answers specific to your situation. That record belongs to them. It is created and maintained by them, not by you and not by us.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical logs, including IP address, device type and timestamps, kept so we can keep the service running and investigate faults.
We do not use advertising trackers.
Questions asked without an account
When you ask a question or look up a medicine without an account, we save the question, the answer, when you asked, whether it was on the website or the app, and the page and site you arrived from (the site's name only, not the full link). Your browser or the app keeps a random number so we can tell that several questions came from the same visitor. We do not save your IP address with these questions, and they are kept apart from patient records. If you later create an account or sign in on the same browser or app, your earlier guest questions are linked to that account. We use them to understand who uses Paxis and to improve it. Please do not include anyone's name or other identifying details in a guest question.
How we use it
- To answer your questions, which means sending the text of your question to the systems that generate the answer.
- To keep your history, so you can return to something you asked before.
- To route questions to your care team when you choose to send them.
- To identify messages that suggest an emergency or serious distress, so we can respond appropriately rather than answering as if it were an ordinary question.
- To keep the service secure and working.
- To email you about your account: confirming your address, resetting your password, and letting you know when your care team has replied.
Those emails never contain health information. A notification says a reply is waiting and asks you to sign in to read it, because email is not a secure place to put anything about your diagnosis or care.
We do not use your health information to train models, and we do not sell it. Ever.
Who we share it with
- The doctor you connect to. When you send a question to your care team, they see that question and any context you attached to it. This only happens when you choose it.
- Service providers that run the product. Cloud hosting and the providers of the language models that generate answers. They process data on our behalf and under contract, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- If the law requires it, such as a valid court order.
We do not share your information with employers, insurers, advertisers or data brokers.
Where it is stored
On servers in the United States, operated by Google Cloud. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
How long we keep it
Your account and its contents are kept until you delete them. Questions asked without an account are deleted after 12 months. Technical logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time. In the app, go to the Me tab and choose Delete my account. You can also email us and we will do it.
Deleting removes your conversations, the answers you were given, your symptom entries, the questions you sent to your care team, and the account itself. It does not remove the medical records your doctor keeps about you. Those are theirs and are subject to their own obligations.
Your choices
- You can use Paxis without connecting a doctor.
- You can disconnect from a doctor at any time.
- You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you.
- You can ask us to correct something.
- You can delete everything.
Email us and we will act on any of these.
Children
Paxis is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
What Paxis is not
Paxis explains medical evidence in plain language. It is not medical advice, it does not diagnose, and it does not replace your care team. In an emergency, call 911.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell account holders by email rather than quietly updating the date at the top.
